Rachel So
Wedding Photographer

I'm a wedding photographer based in Hong Kong, and I can't wait to capture the most intimate moments between you and your loved ones!
I'm an easy going person who values personal intimate connection, vulnerability, accepting imperfections, and enjoying the moment to have fun, so a successful shoot to me would mean being able to have my photographs reflect all that!
More about me!
If there’s one thing you’ll find out quickly after getting to know me, it’s that I love food! Lunch dates with my friends are my absolute favorite thing to do. Other than that, I also enjoy BBQ nights, heart to heart talks by the harbour, island exploration days, anything really as along as I’m joined by good company! With that being said, I’m actually an introvert at heart. So as much as I love hanging out with my friends, I definitely look forward to my “me days” that I try to schedule at least once a week. To recharge, I love just walking around the city with my camera to explore all the amazing spots that Hong Kong has to offer and just shoot all day long, plus it’s like a mini location scouting trip where I get find new shooting locations, so basically win win! One last thing you need to know about me is that I’m pretty sure I have the cutest golden retriever, and I’m taking no rebuttals (:
Alright, enough about me. Let’s talk about my photography approach!
My approach towards photography is a blend of documentary shots and editorial storytelling photographs. I go from taking candids of toasts with your friends during casual chit chats or your parents wiping off their tears as they watch you walk down the aisle, to gorgeous moody photos in front of stunning landscapes or cute strolls along the sidewalks of busy streets.

I strongly believe that in order for me to photograph authentic photos, I should be able to make you feel comfortable to open up in front of me, which is why instead of viewing you guys as my client, I tend to view you guys as my friend! I try to be vulnerable and share bits and pieces of myself with you, in hopes of earning your trust to feel like you can be vulnerable with me as well! I think I'll always be admiring those who are willing to open up and share their most intimate moments with me, so if you do, I'll never appreciate you enough for letting me witness your love. (:
And a little bit more about wedding days specifically...
From shooting over 150+ weddings in the past two years, I've learnt to go with the flow and cater towards my client's style and shoot towards their personalities to authentically document one of the most important days of their lives, hopefully yours too!

With that being said, I understand that it's easy to get caught up on wedding days. Rushing through rundowns, traveling between venues, making sure everything is on track, it's a lot, for all of us, even us photographers. But sometimes it's more important to slow down, because only by slowing down do you really get to experience everything and take it all in. These special moments are temporary, but memories last forever, and whether it be happiness, gratitude, touched, these photographs will always be here to remind you of the rawest most genuine emotions you feel in that very second. So just forget that I exist! It's my job to photograph. Your job is just to enjoy the day! I can't take fun happy joyful photographs if you're not having a fun happy joyful day! (:
Throughout this learning journey, the more weddings I shoot, the more clarity I have as to why I enjoy shooting weddings. I love it when people open up and get vulnerable between each other, and I love it when people are present and live in the moment, so why wouldn't I choose to shoot weddings when that's all I get to experience for the whole day! That's why when I'm lucky enough to come across a couple who is present and so expressive with their love, I make sure to the capture the true essence of their day, because they will always remind me why I wanted to start photographing weddings at the beginning and also why I will continue to do what I love, to witness love.
